Hey bestie, have you ever scrolled through Insta or TikTok and suddenly felt your mood drop? Like, some of your friends are out in Bali living their best life, others are sharing super cute date pics, and some just landed a high-paying job. Meanwhile, you’re just chilling at home or stressing over deadlines, feeling kinda empty and a bit left out... That feeling, my friend, is called FOMO, or Fear of Missing Out! It’s like this invisible shadow that just follows us Gen Zers around.

FOMO Gen Z: Why Is Everyone Affected?

Honestly, it’s not just you, most of us Gen Z folks have felt this way at some point. We grew up in the era of social media, where everything is shared in the most fabulous way possible. Everyone wants to flex their beautiful moments and epic wins, but sometimes we forget that’s just a tiny part of the picture, all polished up before posting.

Because of that, it’s super easy to get caught in the comparison trap, thinking, "If they can do it, why can’t I?" This invisible pressure makes us feel like we have to keep up, fearing we’re not good enough, not pretty enough, or not having as much fun as everyone else. That’s how the anxiety of "FOMO" sneaks into our minds and lowkey stresses us out without us even realizing it.

What To Do When FOMO Hits?

So, when that feeling of missing out drops by, how do we not let it drown us? Don’t worry, I’ve got some tips that I swear by, give them a shot:

First off, own your feelings. Feeling FOMO isn’t bad; it’s just a totally normal reaction. Acknowledge it, then take a few deep breaths to chill out, and don’t beat yourself up over it.

Next, why not try a little "digital detox"? Like, turn off notifications, put your phone aside, or even log out of social media for a few hours. We often get sucked into endless scrolling, so sometimes we need a break to just "chill" with the real world. Focus on what you have and what you’re doing right now.

Overcoming FOMO Isn’t As Tough As It Seems!

To really overcome fomo gen z, you gotta take a "deep dive" into yourself. Instead of chasing after what others are doing, sit down and ask yourself: "What do I really want? What makes me happy?" Everyone has their own path and definition of happiness.

You know what? Constantly looking at others can make you miss out on all the amazing things about yourself. Spend some time loving yourself more, taking care of your mental and physical health. Sometimes, a cozy evening with a book, binge-watching movies, or a walk in the park is all you need to feel peaceful and whole. Don’t stress about what’s happening tomorrow, just enjoy the now.

If you wanna understand yourself better and figure out why those negative vibes keep creeping in, try out some psychology tests on Movui.vn. You might discover some cool stuff about yourself! I truly believe that when we really understand and accept who we are, FOMO won’t be a fear anymore.
